9.29.15 Encourage and Support change...dont force it

“Before you try and change others, remember how hard it is to change yourself.” ~ Bill Bluestein

Melissa’s Words of Wisdom

I find it funny how focused and determined we can be at changing others, however when it comes to ourselves, we resist change. My sister and I laugh because we love giving each other advice and trying to help each other make changes, however most of the time we both resist the advice and end up doing whatever we want to do anyways. We used to get offended when the other one wouldn’t take the advice, however now we have a greater understanding of change and how you really can’t make someone change. You can encourage, support, and be there for them, but at the end of the day, it’s up to them. We are much better at being encouraging and supports than we are at forcing change, especially for other people. Be encouraging and a supporter today! Happy Supporting and Encouraging Change – Not Forcing It!!

This is a great reminder, Melissa! It’s natural for us to point out things others need to change without really putting ourselves under the same microscope. (I’m hugely guilty of that one!)

We all are Whitney…sometimes we feel so “flawed” because we forget that others go through the same thing everyday…that’s why support and communication are so integral to making sure you are “constructively” criticizing yourself while not being “too hard” on yourself! I appreciate your comments!!
